Shamberg, Johnson & Bergman, Chtd. is big on not just community service in Kansas City but also legal community involvement. To help support future lawyers and to honor the name and legacy of the late and great Attorney John Shamberg, we are proud to contribute to the annual John E. Shamberg Memorial Law Student Scholarship. This $3,000 scholarship is available to any law student who is attending Washburn University School of Law in Topeka.
Applicant requirements, other than attendance at Washburn U, include:
- One letter of intention
- Two letters of recommendation from attorneys and/or law professors in Kansas
- Support for local community activities
- Professionalism and positive character traits
The scholarship also encourages students in difficult financial situations or from underrepresented communities to apply. We want to do the most we can by giving a chance for every student to fulfill their dreams of becoming the next world-class attorney.
We are excited to announce that the 2020-2021 winner of the John E. Shamberg Memorial Law Student Scholarship has been selected: Lizzy McEntire! She was kind enough to send us a warm thank you letter after learning she was selected and that our contributions help keep the scholarship program running. In 2018, she graduated summa cum laude from Kansas State University and served as a judge for the Student Governing Association. Plus, both of her parents and one grandfather earned their juris doctorates from Washburn University! All in all, it sounds like she was destined to great things in the legal world, and we are so happy to have been able to help her keep her dream on track.
