Shamberg, Johnson & Bergman, Chtd. is proud to support our communities however we can. It shows not only in our community involvement of today but also in the roots of our law firm. Years ago, the late and legendary Attorney John Shamberg started the Shamberg Scholars Program at Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas, where he was an alumnus.

Each year, the Shamberg Scholars Program will provide a new law student a scholarship that pays the tuition for three full years of law school, as well as a generous living stipend. It was John’s belief that the future of the law depends on new, fresh generations of lawyers, which is something we believe rings true to this day. With this scholarship program, we are proud to carry on John’s legacy while also giving great opportunities for promising law students.

Several eligibility criteria must be met to qualify for the Shamberg Scholars Program:

  • Applications must be submitted before the next fall semester at Washburn University School of Law.
  • Applicants must be considered in the top 10% of the applicant pool based on their credentials.
  • Applicants must provide a statement that explains why they are pursuing a career in the law.
  • Applicants are expected to be actively involved in community service and support activities.
  • Applicants are expected to show promising leadership qualities.

Once a scholarship winner is selected, they must maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the first year at Washburn University School of Law, remain a full-time student there, and not become sanctioned under the School of Law Honor Code.

Locals in Topeka and students of all sorts at Washburn University recognize the Shamberg Scholars Program as one of the best scholarship opportunities in Kansas if not the country. We are always excited to see new applicants and finalists each year, and we look forward to giving one bright winner an amazing scholarship in the upcoming fall semester.
